There are many photography workshops that combine travel with
lessons from accomplished photographers. They boast locations all around the world, and offer the opportunity to photograph new cultures and experiences. Camera Odyssey’s upcoming trip to Sri Lanka
is unique from these workshops.
Combining philanthropy, volunteering, and documentary access sets this workshop apart from all the others, while still maintaining the opportunity to take part in a rich cultural experience.

In November, the team of doctors that pioneer Smile
Bangladesh are undertaking a medical mission to Sri Lanka for Cleft Lip Repair. Camera Odysseys founder Bruce Byers invites
you to join him in documenting their work throughout the mission. If you’ve ever had the desire to be behind the
scenes of an incredible philanthropic mission to help the children in need,
this is your trip. This is the Smile
Bangladesh Team’s 20th mission, and they plan on repairing clefs, as well as burn damages that are an outcome of war. The
time on this trip will be split between photographing the medical mission and
exploring the beautiful country of Sri Lanka.

The attendees of this trip will be invited into operating
rooms, recovery rooms, local homes, schools, and businesses. Our day trips will include visits to the many
temples and beaches of Sri Lanka. Bruce
Byers, the leader of this trip, states, “Documenting medical missions has changed the way I see and has
elevated my photography”. Additionally,
$500 of each trip fee will be donated to Smile Bangladesh to continue their
missions.
